Bentley Systems, an infrastructure engineering software company, has announced the finalists for its international 2022 Going Digital Awards Infrastructure.
Burnley’s team was shortlisted after saving £80,000 in eight weeks on a wastewater treatment project.
Bentley Systems’ annual awards program celebrates the extraordinary achievements of Bentley software users who are driving the design, construction and operation of infrastructure around the world.
Eleven independent judging panels selected 36 finalists from over 300 nominations submitted by over 180 organizations in 47 countries covering 12 categories.
Burnley’s MWH Treatment was also named a finalist in the Water and Wastewater category as part of Advance Plus, a joint venture of J Murphy and Sons working for MWH Treatment, Stantec and United Utilities.
The Burnley Wastewater Treatment Works project, part of the United Utilities Water Company, was initiated to improve current site functionality and comply with stringent regulatory standards to accommodate the region’s growing population.
Tight timelines, costs, and site constraints created coordination and logistical challenges that previous technologies could not address.
As such, the project’s joint venture team wanted to digitally support and organize design, manufacturing, manufacturing, and assembly operations to reduce time on site and minimize health and safety risks. .
4D construction simulation technology was required to optimize the production stages and support digital rehearsals.
The team generated a 4D construction model and used it to run monthly digital rehearsals to review the program and provide an overview of the ongoing project.
This solution helped us save 8 weeks of time and £80,000.
4D models act as digital twins, enabling informed decision-making and provided to clients for operations and maintenance.
Other finalists in the water and wastewater category are:
- Jacobs – Tuas Water Reclamation Plant (TWRP) for PUB, Singapore National Water Authority, Singapore
- L&T Construction – Utility Development and Management for Nadaprab Kempegowda Layout (NPKL), Bangalore, Karnataka, India
- MWH Therapies, Advance Plus Framework JV with J Murphys & Sons – Burnley WWTW Capital Investment Project, Burnley, UK
Winners will be announced at the 2022 Going Digital Awards in Infrastructure gala on November 15th at Intercontinental Park Lane in London.
Bentley Chief Operating Officer Nicholas Cumins said:
“Bentley executives will share insights on digital advancements in infrastructure, along with updates on Bentley’s applications and innovations.”
