Rembrandt's masterpiece

Brought to life: Rembrandt-era masterpieces in the Peck Collection at the Ackland Art Museum A compilation of over 70 Dutch drawings from the 17th century, including works by Rembrandt. Many of these works are unpublished and rarely exhibited. The drawings are sensitive to light, and the number of exhibitions is small, so it is a valuable exhibition that cannot be overlooked. It was the first major exhibition of the Peck collection since it was donated to Acland, the museum at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Paintings by well-known and lesser-known artists are displayed side by side, demonstrating the discerning eye that Pecks has developed over his 40-plus years. Pecks’ groundbreaking gift of over 130 Dutch and Flemish drawings established Ackland as one of the few public university museums in the United States where scholars and students could study Northern European drawings in depth. .

Organized around five thematic groups, drawn to life It celebrates the creativity and skill of Dutch artists who explored the beauty of the natural world and the many facets of humanity. A catalog by Dr. Robert Fuch, one of his co-curators of the exhibition, showcases the breadth of Peck’s collection.
